Liverpool bus strike Wednesday 7 May

NAA is aware that schools in the Liverpool area have been affected by an unannounced bus strike today. The following guidance is for schools where pupils do not arrive in time for the start of today's key stage 3 national curriculum tests.

Procedures for timetable variations are given on pages 36-39 of the 2008 Assessment and reporting arrangements booklet for key stage 3, and online at http://www.qca.org.uk/eara/295.asp

The following guidance must be followed for all pupils who are late to school on the day of the test. For further assistance, please call the NAA national curriculum tests helpline on 08700 60 60 40.

If a pupil arrives late while the test is being sat

The pupil should sit the test separately as soon as possible, and should be given the normal time allocation.

If a pupil arrives after the test has finished

The pupil should be kept isolated from others and sit the test as soon as possible. Schools should notify the NAA using the online notification form at http://testforms.naa.org.uk/testforms/Login/Default.aspx

If a pupil does not make it into school at all today

If the headteacher can guarantee the pupil has not spoken to anybody who has already taken the test, the school can apply online for a timetable variation requesting that the pupil sits the test tomorrow. Applications can be made using the online application form at http://testforms.naa.org.uk/testforms/Login/Default.aspx

If the headteacher cannot guarantee the pupil has not been in contact with others who have already taken the test, the pupil should be marked as absent (A) on the attendance register.
