2008 Guidance for organising, undertaking and reporting on monitoring visits

The guidance and forms for the 2008 national curriculum tests cycle monitoring visits are now available to download from the 'Monitoring' pages of the 'Local authorities' section of the NAA website. Please ensure you follow this guidance when carrying out monitoring visits of your maintained schools.

Local authorities (LAs) are required to carry out monitoring visits of their maintained schools before, during and after the test weeks for key stages 2 and 3. These visits form part of LA's statutory requirements to monitor the effective administration of national curriculum tests.

Your LA assessment coordinator is required to forward the completed monitoring visits report forms to the NAA monitoring visits agency by 16 May 2008 for key stage 3 schools and by 23 May 2008 for key stage 2 schools.

Please note that for 2008, LAs will not receive paper copies of schools' test orders. Instead, LAs will have access to schools' details through the Test orders website in advance of conducting a monitoring visit. If you can't find your log in or do not have access to the Test orders website, please contact your LA superuser who can provide you with secure login access.

If you require further information, please visit the 'Monitoring' pages of the 'Local authorities' section of the NAA website or contact the National curriculum tests helpline on 08700 60 60 40.
