The NAA was launched in April 2004 by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) to safeguard and modernise the delivery of exams, tests and assessment.
To do this, we work directly with schools, colleges, other exams centres and partners including local authorities and awarding bodies.
The NAA has committed to improving and safeguarding the delivery of exams, tests and assessment and is responsible for:
- the secure delivery of national curriculum tests
- the secure delivery of public exams such as A levels and GCSE
- modernisation of the exam and testing system
- ensuring there is a pool of examiners that can be used for public exams
- implementing the exams office improvement programme
- establishing the Institute of Educational Assessors.
The NAA is a subsidiary of the QCA.
